$1 million donation to the Laval Holy Cross Armenian Church Construction Fund

The Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Canada, His Eminence
Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, announced a significant pledge towards the
building of the planned construction of the Holy Cross Armenian Church in
Laval. It is with gratitude that the Diocese acknowledges the promise of
this most generous pledge for the Laval Holy Cross Church, from an
honorable benefactor, who wishes to remain ANONYMOUS=2E

This well respected benefactor has made a pledge for a sum of $1 million.
The total project is expected to be completed at a current estimated cost
of $6 to 6.5 million. On behalf of the Primate, Diocesan Council and
Clergy we thank the benefactor for this generosity=2E

In October 2005, after several months of extensive discussions and
negotiations under the auspices and the directive of the Primate of our
Diocese, His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, the Pastor, Parish Council
and faithful of Holy Cross Armenian Church in Laval came closer to
realizing a long awaited construction of Holy Cross Armenian Church and
building of Armenian Community Center on Boulevard De Souvenir in Laval.
Members of the Steering and Construction Committee of Holy Cross Armenian
Church are.- Reverend Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanian-Pastor, Vartan
Karasseferian- Chairman, Vahakn Arapyan-Treasurer, Chahan Pacradouni, Arto
Basmadjian, Jack Seraidarian, Raffi Simci, Vicken Darakjian. The architect
is: Mardiros Baygin=2E

While donations of this scale are the backbone of large initiatives,
reaching our goal requires generosity from our community at large. We
encourage all our faithful to continue their contributions towards the
realization of this project.

It is an honor to each and every Canadian Armenian to build this gem as a
sign of our vitality and symbol of victory.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
