SERGEI LAVROV: WE ARE INTERESTED IN ARMENIA’S BECOMING A STABLE AND PROSPEROUS COUNTRY

YEREVAN, APRIL 3, NOYAN TAPAN. The April 3 joint press conference
of Russian and Armenian Foreign Ministers was dedicated to the
estimation of the current level and prospects of development of
Armenian-Russian relations, as well as to summing up the results of
RF Foreign Minister’s visit to Armenia. S. Lavrov and RA Foreign
Minister Vartan Oskanian mentioned the high level of bilateral
relations. They said that agreements on deepening Armenian-Russian
contacts by the format of bilateral relations and by the format of
international organizations were reached during S. Lavrov’s visit
to Yerevan. "We are sincerely interested in Armenia’s becoming a
stable and prosperous country, we wish Armenia success on that way,"
S. Lavrov said. He positively estimated the negotiations process on
peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, mentioned Russia’s
interest im peaceful settlement of the problem. At the same time,
the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that "it’s up to the conflict
parties to say the last word in settlement of the problem."
