YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan has said that the agreement with Türkiye on opening the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders could be implemented in the ‘nearest future.’

Mirzoyan expressed optimism on the matter during a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2024 state budget draft.

“The Armenia-Türkiye normalization process is highly important for us,” Mirzoyan told lawmakers, mentioning his previous meetings with his Turkish counterpart and the contacts of the special representatives. 

“And there’s a conversation about the Armenia-Türkiye normalization,” the FM said.

Speaking about the agreement on opening the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders, the Armenian FM said: ‘I’d like to express optimism that perhaps we’ll have good news here in the nearest future.’

Foreign Minister Mirzoyan said that Armenia is interested in having at least normalized relations with all four neighboring countries.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Problems exist in the relations between Armenia and Russia, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

Mirzoyan said Armenia favors discussing, understanding and resolving the problems in a constructive manner.

The Armenian FM made the remarks at a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2024 state budget.

Speaking about cooperation in foreign policy, Mirzoyan said that Armenia will continue to develop its relations with Russia, among others, with whom it is connected with numerous and multisectoral ties.

“Now, of course it is visible that there are some problems in these relations. We aren’t satisfied with many things, we are surprised with many things, as far as I understand it there is similar attitude in Russia. We are convinced that what makes our Russian partners surprised is a consequence of the policy that we have seen in the most various media and elsewhere. We have no other position than to constructively discuss, understand and resolve the problems and move forward as friends and colleagues,” Mirzoyan said, stressing that this must be a bilateral work.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Armenia will continue multisectoral cooperation with France, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

“We will certainly continue our multisectoral cooperation with the rest of our friends, such as France. Mutual visits of high-ranking officials are taking place constantly. The conversation is continuous and will remain that way,” Mirzoyan told lawmakers during a parliamentary committee hearing on the 2024 state budget draft.

Armenia will continue to deepen ties with the EU.

FM Mirzoyan stressed the role of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) in border stability and security. “We, so to say, are revealing new platforms of cooperation with the EU, new directions, such as political and security dialogue,” FM Mirzoyan said.

CEPA stipulates commitments and obligations that both Armenia and the EU must implement. In this context, FM Mirzoyan noted the launch of the visa liberalization dialogue.

Mirzoyan said Armenia highly values its relations with the US and its traditional partners such as Russia.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Armenia and India’s ORF Foundation plan to organize the annual Raisina Dialogue in Yerevan in 2024, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said Friday.

The event is planned for September 2024.

“This will give us a big opportunity to develop our relations, host many guests, and overall present Armenia under the international political, academic and innovative spotlight,” Mirzoyan said at the 2024 budget discussion, adding that the Armenian Foreign Ministry attaches great importance to this program.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Armenia plans to open diplomatic representations in a number of countries, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told lawmakers on Friday during a parliamentary committee discussion on the 2024 state budget.

“The Republic of Korea has recently notified us with an official note that it intends to establish a resident embassy in Yerevan in the first half of next year. We, of course, also want to open a resident diplomatic representation in Seoul. We believe that there is great potential in the Armenia-Korea relations and the reciprocal opening of embassies in the two capitals will contribute to the better utilization of this potential,” Mirzoyan said.

He said that Armenia will also open a diplomatic representation in Luxembourg, with whom it has ‘wonderful relations’.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Approximately 200 square kilometers of Armenian territory is under Azeri control, FM Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

“There are territories of Armenia that have been under Azerbaijani control even since the 1990s. But we also have new examples, I am aware of such approximately 200 square kilometers of territory of Armenia, which is now under the control of Azerbaijani forces,” Mirzoyan told lawmakers at a parliamentary committee discussion when asked on the matter.

YERASKH, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock visited Yeraskh on the second day of her Armenia trip on Saturday. 

In the border village, Baerbock was welcomed by Marek Kuberski, Deputy Head of EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA).

Together with EUMA observers, the German Foreign Minister visited the area where the U.S.-affiliated steelworks was supposed to be built. The construction site has been moved to a new location as a result of regular cross-border shootings by Azerbaijani forces. Kuberski showed the German FM the bullet holes on the administrative building of the plant.

Kuberski briefed FM Baerbock on the EUMA activities and said that mainly no incidents take place when they are monitoring the border areas. The situation is overall calm, he said.

The German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock inquired on the distance between Yeraskh and the Azeri posts and the frequency of EUMA patrols in the Yeraskh section.

Baerbock then left for the village of Vostan to meet with forcibly displaced persons of Nagorno-Karabakh who’ve been accommodated there.

“At meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan presented project of “Crossroads of Peace” elaborated by Armenia as initiative that can bring economic benefits not only to our region, immediate neighbours, but also to wider world & will become a unique guarantee for peace,” Badalyan said in a post on X.

FM Mirzoyan met with FM Baerbock in Yerevan on November 3.

VOSTAN, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Baerbock has met with forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh who’ve found shelter in the village of Vostan, Ararat Province, Armenia.

Baerbock visited Vostan after traveling to the village of Yeraskh to meet EUMA observers during the second day of her visit to Armenia.

In Vostan, Baerbock talked with the forcibly displaced persons and became acquainted with their living conditions.

On November 3, Baerbock met with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan and announced that Germany will provide €9,3 million in humanitarian aid to Armenia to support the forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
