Larisa Alaverdian: "March 1st" Criminals Continue Their Deeds

LARISA ALAVERDIAN: “MARCH 1ST” CRIMINALS CONTINUE THEIR DEEDS

Friday,
February 01

The attempted murder of the presidential candidate Paryur Hayrikian
is a crime that may destabilize the situation, the first Ombudsperson
of Armenia, former deputy of the parliament Ms. Larisa Alaverdian
said at the meeting with reporters today.

She said the incident is one of the dark pages in history of Armenia
and it aims to “intimidate the Armenian people”.

“The version of the complicity of the authorities in what has happened
can be ruled out. The incident is not in the interest of authorities,
it is aimed not only against Hayrikian, but also the country. Some
forces would probably benefit from the presidential election’s
postponement. Deliberate postponement of electoral processes is a
crime, it means that the criminals are still here, and after committing
the “March 1st” crime, they continue their deeds. The current election
campaign differed from the previous ones. That kind of elections,
which have been held in Armenia since 1995, should end in 2013 and
lead to a new situation in the country,” L. Alaverdian noted.

She does not believe that the incident with Paryur Hayrikian will unite
the presidential candidates because they have different political
views. In her words, the unification of the candidates is possible
only for overcoming the crisis and coming out of the current situation
without additional loss.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
