The 7th round of the Women’s Grand Prix, taking place in Nalchik,
started off with a silence minute – the participants stood in memory
of FIDE’s ex-president, Florencio Campomanes.

In the reported round Zhao Xue finally scored her first win, overcoming
Armenia’s Elina Danielian. In the accepted Quinn’s gambit, at the end
of the opening, Elina Danielian developed a pretty solid play with
mutual chances. However, she chose the wrong plan which worsened her
position considerably. Danielian was forced to give up her queen on
21st move and lost.

Lilit Mkrtchian, who played with white, was overcome by Georgia’s
player Nana Dzagnidze. After making several mistakes, Lilit had to
finish the game in draw on the 55th move.
