Turkey experiences psychological fear connected with the opening
of Armenian-Turkish border, said Director of Armenian Genocide
Museum-Institute Haik Demoyan today.

According to Demoyan, the concern is that an Armenian element will
appear in modern Turkish territory, particularly in those matters
which refer to historical-cultural heritage.

Demoyan also referred to the economic aspect of opening the
Armenian-Turkish border. According to him, the Turkish side also has
concerns connected with economic expansion, since goods from other
countries may be imported into the local market.

The expert also sees Turkey’s other concern: the local Kurdish
population, presently in a tragic situation, but who will gain
opportunities to do business.

Demoyan said he can continue listing Turkey’s concerns, but he limited
himself to those mentioned, since, according to him, there are numerous
aspects of the issue which should not be publicized.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
