Italy interested in establishment of stability in Caucasus

YEREVAN, MARCH 9, NOYAN TAPAN. On March 6, RA President Serzh Sargsyan
received a delegation led by Alfredo Montica, the State Secretary of
Italian Foreign Ministry. The RA President said that the
Armenian-Italian relations have good development prospects in that
context attaching importance to activization of dialogue and mutual
contacts. S. Sargsyan on the way to the European family considered
important for Armenia expansion of many-sided cooperation with such a
leading country as Italy.

According to the report of the RA President’s Press Office, the sides
also spoke about the EU Eastern Partnership initiative noting that it
opens wide possibilities for partnership. S. Sargsyan especially
attached importance to the regional component of partnership.

A. Montica thanked the RA President for assistance provided to citizens
of Italy in the period of Georgian-Ossetian crisis last August.
According to him, those events once more showed that the military way
of solving conflicts has no prospects, and the current problems should
be settled only in a political way. Mentioning that his country is
interested in establishment of stability in the Caucasus, A. Montica
said that Italy being an OSCE Minsk Group member attentively keeps up
with the Nagorno Karabakh negotiations process developments.
