Monte Muradyan and Syune Kosakyan, both eight years old, have reached the summit of Ararat as part of the 4 Peaks Children’s and Youth Mountaineering Club of Armenia, becoming the youngest participants to advance the almost 17,000-foot climb.
The ascent to the summit of Mt. Ararat was the result of long preparation, Panorama.am reported on Thursday.
The climb was preceded by months of training with a specially developed climbing program. The children had successively completed similar hikes and climbs at various mountain trails in Armenia, gained the necessary experience, adapted to the altitude and even spent the night on the South Peak of Aragats mountain, taking an important step on the way to adapting to high-altitude conditions.
The ascent to Mt. Ararat was not without trials, Panorama.am wrote. The altitude, walking at night and fatigue were serious challenges, but they were completely surmountable thanks to proper organization, supervision of guides and parents, gradual acclimatization and the children’s exceptional will.
No health-threatening situations were recorded during the climb.
The success of Syuney and Monte once again proves that age is not a limit when there is a goal, consistent work, responsible preparation and faith in one’s own strength.
