Contest of Robot-Making Experts, Students Pupils During DIGITEC 2008

CONTEST OF ROBOT-MAKING EXPERTS, STUDENTS AND PUPILS TO BE HELD DURING
"DIGITEC 2008"

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The Union of IT Enterprises of
Armenia (UITE) jointly with the Armenian subsidiary of National
Instruments company (US) and 5-6 other companies envisage to organize a
contest of robot-making experts, students and pupils, the executive
director of UITE Karen Vardanian announced at the November 2 press
conference, adding that the contest will be held within the framework
of the international exhibition "DigiTec 2008" (on October 3-5).

In his words, the organizing committee of the contest has already been
set up, and it is now developing the requirements for contest
participants. He attached special importance to the participation of
students and pupils from the viewpoint that while making robots, they
have to solve simultaneously mechanics, electronics, radiophysics and
IT problems. K. Vardanian said that the surveys of foreign students who
participated in similar exhibitions show that the "knowledge they get
during 4-5 months of robot-making is equal to the knowledge gained
during their studies at university".

K. Vardanian did not rule out that robot-making students and pupils of
Armenia may take part in international contests.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
