The Russian MTS company is said to buy K-Telecom, the second cellular
operator of Armenia. Regnum reported on August 17 that neither
K-Telecom which presents the Viva Cell trademark, nor MTS provide any
information about the deal. Viva Cell’s press secretary Vahe Isahakyan
said there is no such information yet, and as soon as there is news,
the company will release it. For her part, the press secretary of MTS
Irina Osadchaya told Regnum the company is interested in the cellular
telephony market in Armenia and is studying the possibilities of
the market. Osadchaya said, however, MTS did not get an acceptable
proposal from the Armenian cellular operator.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
