YEREVAN, JULY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA NA Speaker, Tigran Torosian,
at the July 13 press conference, said that at the regular congress
of the Republican Party of Armenia to be convened in autumn, when the
elections of the party Chairman will be held, a decision will be made
about nominating their own candidate for the presidential elections,
clarifications will be done in party’s activities, conditioned by the
circumstance of having a qualitative majority at the parliament. He
mentioned that the party’s last regular congress was held in 2005
November.

In connection with refusing to hold the special congress envisaged
for July 14, T. Torosian said that to hold the special congress
several months before the regular one was not expedient, as it was
preceded by the NA special session that lasted for a week, and the
considerable part of RPA’s political leadership took part in the
session. In his words, "the RPA Board, discussing all these facts,
considered it expedient to solve all issues at the regular congress
to be held in autumn."
