YEREVAN, JULY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA NA Speaker, Tigran Torosian, at
the July 13 press conference said that he considers that the government
will fail to submit again to the NA the package of bills envisaging
amendments to the laws "On Television and Radio" and "On State Duty,"
which has been voted down lately.

It should be reminded that by the above mentioned package,
in particular, it was proposed to prohibit the activity of other
broadcasting organizations on the frequences of the Public TV and Radio
Company, which, according to opponents, was aimed against further
transmission of Radio Liberty’s Armenian service’s broadcasts by
Public Radio. According to our unofficial information, it is indeed
envisaged to stop the broadcasting in early August, but already not
by the force of the law, but through not refreshing the respective
agreement between Public Radio and Radio Liberty.

In response to the remark of one of the journalists, that RPA’s
political colleagues, ARFD and Bargavach Hayastan factions, the
considerable part of whose members were absent from the package voting,
contributed to the latter’s failure, T. Torosian said that "a serious
conclusion should be drawn for all this, as partnership cannot be based
on such conduct" and "the agreements reached should be respected."
