MEMBER OF ARMENIAN MISSION AT OSCE PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY: AZERBAIJAN CONTINUES DISORIENTATING ITS SOCIETY

18:01 07/11/2007

Neither Azerbaijan nor the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are mentioned
in the resolution passed by the OSCE Parliamentary Session regarding
"frozen conflicts." It was clearly stated that every effort is backed
in achieving peaceful settlement of the conflicts in Moldova and
Georgia on the basis of territorial integrity of those countries,
member of the Armenian mission to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
Samvel Nikoyan told a REGNUM correspondent.

According to him, the only thing that is mentioned in the document
is a concern about conflicts in the OSCE member-countries, including
Azerbaijan.

This paragraph was practically the only one where Azerbaijan was
mentioned, he said and advised all reporters to read the document
that was published both in English and in Russian on the website of
the organization.

Earlier, member of the Azerbaijani mission to the OSCE Parliamentary
Assembly Azai Guliyev announced that "the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
is a supporter of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh issue within frameworks
of territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of borders of
Azerbaijan, which is mentioned in the resolution passed in Kiev at the
16th session of the organization." According to him, the OSCE PA on
conflicts in the territory of OSCE member-countries includes clauses
concerning Nagorno Karabakh, which reflect necessity of fulfillment
of the UN Security Council resolutions by Armenia and impossibility of
applying the Kosovo model while settling other conflicts. Guliyev also
added that they had prevented from submission of over ten amendments
proposed by the Armenian side. According to the MP, until now the OSCE
had had no mechanisms for conflict settlement. "But the document can
already act as means in conflict settlement," the MP noted.
