Derry City’s Eircom League game against Bray Wanderers on Friday
night has been postponed.
Due to very heavy overnight rain, Bray’s Carlisle Grounds pitch
was waterlogged.
Referee Dave McKeown inspected the ground shortly before lunch on
Friday and was forced to call the game off.
The postponement will deny new Derry boss John Robertson some
prepartion ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against
FC Pyunik of Armenia.
The Derry manager, meanwhile, said that he will not be making any
further attempts to sign a goalkeeper ahead of the Brandywell game.
New Derry keeper Dave McEwan broke a bone in a hand in training on
Tuesday and will be out for a number of weeks.
However, Robertson says that he is content that Republic of Ireland
under-age goalkeeper Eugene Ferry offers sufficient cover from current
number one Patrick Jennings.
