YEREVAN, MAY 2, NOYAN TAPAN. On the occasion of the International
Day of Workers a solemn march was organized in Yerevan on May 1,
on the initiative of the Communist Party of Armenia. Communists,
young communists, co-thinkers arrived from different marzes of the
republic participated in the march. The march was turned into a mass
meeting in Stepan Sgahumian square. During the mass meeting First
Secretary of the CPA Central Committee Ruben Tovmasian addressed
his greeting speech to representatives of the worker’s and peasant
structure of the country and stated that during the recent 15 years,
since the independence of Armenia, the main rights of common people,
labourers, workers are not protected in the country. In his words,
the problem of founding new working places continues remaining urgent,
and thousands of Armenians continue leaving their Fatherland, searching
a job in foreign countries to earn daily money.

Participant of the mass meeting, Secretary of the Spandarian Regional
Committee Donara Nalbandian mentioned in the interview to the Noyan
Tapan correspondent, that May 1 will have great importance for both
present and future generations of workers. In her words, this holiday
is celebrated in all over the world, and it is only in Armenia that
all other parties "wash their hands, refuse and leave the whole
preparatory weight on the communists." And the Communist Party, as
D. Nalbandian added, strives for inspiring the people by organizing
marches and various events.
