Foreign tourists to Adjara increase

Rezonansi reports that the number of foreign tourists to the Georgian
resort region of Adjara has recently increased 2.5 times in comparison
with 2004 figures. The paper writes that the head of the Adjaran
tourism and resorts department Temur Zoidze said all Adjaran hotels are
filled to the max with tourists from abroad as well as from Georgia.

The paper also reports that at the present time, there are 2,200 people
in hotels in Adjara and it is expected to host about 35,000 tourists
in this region during the summer season. According to the paper, Zoidze
also said that the number of foreign tourists from Ukraine, the United
States, Poland and other countries has also significantly increased.

Rezonansi basis the information on a report from the GHN agency and
writes that the bulk of foreign tourists have come from Armenia.

“Prices in hotels in Adjara are comparatively lower and total from
USD 15 to 70, though these prices will allegedly be increased by USD
5 in August,” the paper quotes Zoidze as saying.
