YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says Russia is actively contributing to the peaceful, diplomatic solution of crisis situations in various regions, including in Nagorno Karabakh, Syria and elsewhere.

“We are actively contributing to the peaceful, political and diplomatic settlement of crisis situations in different regions, be it Nagorno Karabakh, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the situation in Korean Peninsula and around the Iran nuclear deal”, Lavrov said in his remarks at the plenary session of the State Duma dedicated to the relevant issues of Russia’s foreign policy.

According to the minister, such efforts contribute to the overall improvement of the situation in the world, reaffirm the Russian side’s reputation as a reliable international partner.

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan met on January 26 with Ambassador of Germany to Armenia Viktor Richter, the Office of the Secretary of the Security Council said.

Issues relating to the Armenian-German mutual partnership, as well as the Armenia-EU current cooperation were discussed. Both sides emphasized the importance of the long-term political settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.

The officials also exchanged views about issues relating to the border delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the request of the German Ambassador, the Secretary of the Security Council presented the process of unblocking the regional transportation routes.

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met today with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg Fernand Etgen during his official visit in Luxembourg, the Armenian MFA reports.

The meeting was attended also by the representatives of all political parties represented at the Chamber of Deputies.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Fernand Etgen praised the current productive cooperation between Armenia and Luxembourg, also at the inter-parliamentary level. The sides emphasized the importance of intensifying the ties between the parliamentary friendship groups and at international parliamentary platforms, particularly within the OSCE.

They also touched upon the implementation of the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). FM Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to consistently develop the partnership with the EU within the frames of this agreement, in this respect highlighting the support of Luxembourg.

Regional security and stability-related issues were also touched upon at the meeting. Ararat Mirzoyan expressed gratitude for the adoption of resolutions by the Chamber of Deputies during and after the 2020 war launched by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, which were expressing support to the Artsakh-Armenians and the protection of their rights. The FM also highly appreciated the positions of the executive and legislative powers of Luxembourg on the necessity of repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other persons held in Azerbaijan.

The sides also discussed the ongoing democratic processes in Armenia and the latest regional developments.

Passengers of Yerevan-Istanbul flights to be exempt from “air tax”

YEREVAN, JANUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Passengers using the Yerevan-Istanbul flights will be exempt from the “air tax” – a state duty usually included in the price of the tickets.

“The routes which haven’t been served in the past 12 months and are now starting to operate and where there will be at least 1 flight per week for at least 1 year will be exempt from the air duty. This doesn’t only refer to Istanbul, many other directions have been exempt from the air duty by this principle,” the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia told ARMENPRESS.

The “air duty”, or “air tax” is a 10,000 dram tax.

The Istanbul direction is exempt from the air duty for the period of February 2, 2022 –February 2, 2025.

Other routes exempt from the air duty include Vilnius, Milan, Rome, Kaluga, Odessa, Frankfurt and others.

The Armenian Flyone Armenia airline earlier announced that it will start flying from Yerevan to Istanbul from February 2. The Turkish Pegasus airline will also operate the Istanbul-Yerevan route.

YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Air Force received new modern multi-role attack and transport helicopters, the Ministry of Defense said.

“On the occasion of commissioning the new military aviation equipment, a ceremony was held on January 25 at the Erebuni airfield which was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lt. General Artak Davtyan. Ahead of the anniversary of the formation of the Army, congratulating the personnel, the command of the military base expressed conviction that the protectors of the air borders are ready to fulfill their objectives and keep the country’s air gates safe,” the Ministry of Defense said.

Lt. General Artak Davtyan personally inspected the new gunships.
