Liberty Square Incident – An Attempt To Change Something – Ashot Man

LIBERTY SQUARE INCIDENT – AN ATTEMPT TO CHANGE SOMETHING – ASHOT MANUCHARYAN

13:20 / 08.11.2013

What happened in Liberty Square was a call to change the situation in
the country, former member of Karabakh Committee Ashot Manucharyan
told the reporters on Friday. “What happened was a serious warning
to the people and the authorities,” he said.

He said any step addressed toward taking the country out of the
situation is good. Of course, it is not excluded that Shant Harutyunyan
was made to do this step.

“The important thing here is that people are trying to change anything
here. The same was the action against raise of transport fare. No
one can principally claim that Shant was incited to do it but I do
not want to make such remarks as he had his causes to make a coup,”
Manucharyan said.

Research: Most Intolerant People Towards "Foreigners" In South Cauca

RESEARCH: MOST INTOLERANT PEOPLE TOWARDS “FOREIGNERS” IN SOUTH CAUCASUS LIVE IN AZERBAIJAN

19:06 08/11/2013 ” Society

>From three South Caucasian countries the least people that think
that the presence of people from other ethnic groups is a cause of
insecurity are in Armenia. Georgian population mainly trusts their
neighbors of other nationality. In Azerbaijan on the contrary they
trust the neighbors depending either on their nationality or belief.

These are the figures of the research carried out by CAUCASUS
BAROMETER, which can be found on Kavpolit.ru.

The article notes that the titular ethnicities in Armenia, Azerbaijan
and Georgia form a clear majority (98%, 91% and 84%, respectively).

In Georgia 6.5% of the population is ethnically Azeri and 5.7% is
ethnically Armenian. In Azerbaijan the Lezgins make 2.2% and the
Talesh comprise 3.3% of the population (including those who straddle
the border with Iran). Armenia is the most ethnically homogenous of the
post-soviet countries with a small Yezidi Kurdish population (1.3%).

The LIT survey asks, “To what extent do you trust people from the
following groups: Your family, your neighborhood, people you meet for
the first time, friends and acquaintances, people of another religion
and people from another nationality?” 43% of Georgians say they trust
people from another nationality, 23% distrust, and 29% neither trust
nor distrust. 14% of Armenians trust, 50% show lower level of trust,
37% do not give much importance to nationality and beliefs of their
fellows. In Azerbaijan the level of trust is much lower. Only 17%
trust people from another nationality, 57% say they distrust people
from another nationality and only 26% do not give much importance to
the nationality.

30% of Georgians agreed that people from other ethnic groups
enrich the cultural life of their country, 34% disagreed, 19%
neither disagree nor agree. And 17% noted they didn’t care. 20% of
respondents in Armenia agreed that people from other ethnic groups
enrich the cultural life of their country, 41% disagreed, 16% of
respondents stated they were neither disagree nor agree, and 23%
noted they didn’t care. In Azerbaijan 25% gave a positive response
to this question, 39% disagreed, 18% were neither disagree nor agree,
19% said they didn’t care.

Only 20% of Armenians that the presence of people from other
ethnic groups is a cause of insecurity, 31% of Georgians and 24%
of Azerbaijanis think this way. 37% of Armenian respondents think
that presence of people from other ethnic groups is not a cause
of insecurity. There are 25% of Georgians and 35% of Azerbaijanis
thinking this way.

42% of Georgians believe that the presence of people from other
ethnic groups increases unemployment. 23% of Armenians and 38% of
Azerbaijanis say the same. In Armenia 36% think that the presence of
people from other ethnic groups does not increases unemployment. 23%
of Georgians and 29% of Azerbaijanis think the same way.

As the publication notes that at the background of the Karabakh
conflict 0% of Azerbaijanis approve of doing business with Armenians.

However 32% of Armenians are open to doing business with Azerbaijanis.

39% of Armenians also approve of trade with Turks, which have the
highest approval rating for business among Azerbaijanis (92%).

Georgians take the middle ground with more or less 75% willing to
engage in business with most of the groups listed. Despite the recent
conflicts, Georgians are rather accepting of doing business with
Abkhazians (74%) and Ossetians (73%). In the same time only 70% are
ready to do business with the Armenians and 74% with the Azerbaijanis.

Russians are well-perceived by 85% of Armenians, 81% of Azerbaijanis
and 84% of Georgians, while Kurds get the lowest ranking 60%, 48%
and 60%, respectively.

Number of Azerbaijanis who are ready to do business with Armenians
grew from 46% to 70%, with Georgians from 44% to 74%, with Greek 34% to
63%, with Russians from 62% to 81%. In Georgia, approval for business
with Russians increased from 76% to 84% and decreased from 75% to 65%
for Turks.

32% of Armenians are open to doing business with Azerbaijanis, 39
with Turks, 68% with Georgians, 69% with Greeks, 74% with Americans,
and 85% with Russians.

PEOPLE SURE TO REBEL – TIGRAN KARAPETYAN

19:37 ~U 08.11.13

Chairman of People’s Party Tigran Karapetyan hails leader of the
Tseghakron (Race religion) party Shant Harutyunyan’s attempt to carry
out a revolution.

A revolution is only possible if the people unite.

“People were forced into that step. More and more similar actions
should be expected in the course of time. In any case, I welcome such
a movement,” Karapetyan told Tert.am.

He intends to get actively involved in political processes if people
rise.

“Let people rise. The freedom-fighters’ rally yesterday should have
been attended by 200,000, but only 200 or 300 were present. All this
is being done for words to become deeds. Radical steps must be taken
to remedy the injustice,” he said.

“Hungry people are in a desperate situation and they will certain rise
in rebellion. The authorities must understand [Armenia] is a democratic
country. They cannot arrest all the people,” Karapetyan said.

Headed For Colony Riding The White Horse

HEADED FOR COLONY RIDING THE WHITE HORSE

According to reliable rumors, Putin will come to Armenia on December
2 with crisp and clear goals – finalize colonization of Armenia and
meet Zori Balayan. On top of vast mockery at the Armenian people by
Russians together with Lukashenko the arrival of the winner and not
to successful politician on the white horse will happen.

Shant Harutiunyan tried to rehearse the “solemn” greeting of Vladimir
Putin but people were few. According to so-called public polls held
by demented sociologists (with obvious clinical signs), 81% of the
Armenian population prefers Russia in the choice Russia vs. Europe.

However, in only 3 million people 19% is about 600,000 people. And
though in reality they are many more, this number is enough to block
the airport and the entire city.

The Armenian police would be in trouble, the army will hardly agree
to disperse people this time, and the Russian military base in Gyumri
might be handy. The question is whether the Russian troops will be
deployed upon the consent of the Armenian government or without it.

It would be reasonable to prevent this shameful visit. Zori Balayan
who is apparently trusted by the Russians could write his next letter
to Vladimir Putin and explain the reasons why he should not visit
his colony. The colony will not run away.

According to other rumors, the United States has imported 14 containers
with baseball bats of high quality therefore not only the riot troops
but also the Armenian mass media, pro-Russian political experts and
journalists may have trouble. A hit from the back is human. People
would not even realize what the matter was…

Armenians are not lucky in politics, economy and football. This is
the right time for sublimation. Shall we figure it out?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Confident That Borussia Will Appear In Play Off

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN CONFIDENT THAT BORUSSIA WILL APPEAR IN PLAY OFF

16:42, 8 November, 2013

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The midfielder of the Armenian
National Football Squad and Borussia Dortmund Henrikh Mkhitaryan is
confident that his team is capable to appear in the next stage of
the UEFA Champions League.

As reports “Armenpress” citing Fourfourtwo website, Mkhitaryan
underscored: “Something went wrong in the match against Arsenal.

We lost a game we could win. Currently we concentrate on the
upcoming two matches of Bundesliga. We must beat Wolfsburg and Bayern
Munich. Only after these we’ll think about the match against Napoli. I
am still confident we’ll pass this stage.”

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is an Armenian footballer who plays as a
midfielder for the German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the
Armenia national football team. Mkhitaryan is Armenia’s all-time
top goalscorer, scoring 12 goals in 43 international matches since
his debut in January 2007. His previous clubs include Pyunik Yerevan,
where he came through the youth system, Metalurh Donetsk, and Shakhtar
Donetsk. Mkhitaryan was chosen Armenian Footballer of the Year in 2009,
2011 and 2012. In 2012 he was voted as the best Shakhtar player of
2011-12 season by the fans, and Ukraine Premier League MVP. In 2012,
Mkhitaryan was named in UEFA’s Top 100 players by UEFA European
Football Yearbook 2012-13.

Mkhitaryan was voted the CIS Footballer of the Year for 2012, making
him the first Armenian footballer to be named the best player from
post-Soviet countries. Mkhitaryan received the nickname Heno from his
fans in Armenia and has recently been nicknamed Micki by his Borussia
Dortmund fans.

Mkhitaryan was born on 22 January 1989 in the Armenian capital Yerevan
to Marina Taschyan and Hamlet Mkhitaryan, a prominent striker of FC
Ararat Yerevan during the 1980s, who died of a brain tumor at age
33. His mother is the head of the national teams department in the
Armenian Football Federation and his elder sister, Monica, works at
UEFA’s headquarters.

At the beginning of the 1990s, the Mkhitaryan family moved to France,
where Hamlet Mkhitaryan played for the now defunct ASOA Valence
helped them to be to be promoted to the second division League 2. The
Mkhitaryans returned to Yerevan in 1995. Mkhitaryan graduated from
the Institute of Physical Culture in Armenia. He currently studies
economics at the Yerevan branch of the St. Petersburg Institute.

Upon graduation, he plans to study there as a lawyer. Growing up,
Mkhitaryan considered Zinedine Zidane his football idol.

Due to his success in the 2009 Armenian Premier League at Pyunik
Yerevan, he joined Ukrainian Premier League club Metalurh Donetsk.

Mkhitaryan joined Metalurh Donetsk. He scored a goal on his debut in a
3-0 victory againstBelarusian Premier League side FC Partizan Minsk,
in the Europa League on 16 July 2009.On 19 July, he made his league
debut in a 0-0 draw with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. His first league
goal came in a 2-2 draw with Karpaty Lviv on 26 July. On 6 August,
he scored the first goal in a 3-0 second leg Europa League win against
Slovenian Interblock Ljubljana, winning 5-0 on aggregate. He finished
the season with 14 goals in 38 appearances, including 29 league
matches and 9 goals.

On 30 August, he sealed a $7.5 million switch to reigning Premier
League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mkhitaryan played in 2-0 2012 Super Cup victory over Metalurh
Donetsk.[38] In his first match of the 2012-2013 Premier League
season, he netted twice and provided two assists in a 6-0 season
opening victory against Arsenal Kyiv. He managed a hat-trick against
Chornomorets Odesa in a 5-1 win to reach 10 goals for the season after
just six games, equalling his tally for the previous season. On 19
September, in Shakhtar’s first Champions League match of the season,
Mkhitaryan scored twice in a 2-0 victory over Danish champions
Nordsjælland. This was the first time he had scored a goal in the
Champions League and he was named Man of the Match. He was also named
in the Team of the Week for matchday 1 of the Champions League after
his brace against Nordsjælland. On 16 March 2013, Mkhitaryan played
his 100th game in the Ukrainian Premier League in a match against
Chornomorets Odesa.

On 11 May 2013, Mkhitaryan scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the
Premier League season in a 5-0 victory over Tavria. These goals set a
Ukrainian Premier League record for most goals in a season. Mkhitaryan
finished the season with 25 league goals, and the attacking midfielder
was praised for his technique and dedication.

On 25 June, Borussia Dortmund made a ~@25 million ($30 million)
bid, but in confirming the offer Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergei Palkin
insisted that it fell short of the clubs valuation, which was a single
payment of ~@30m (£25m). In the same press conference, Palkin confirmed
the acquisition of Brazilian Fred from Sport Club Internacional for
~@15m (£12.5m), a likely replacement. On 5 July, it was reported that
Borussia Dortmund has succeeded in talks with Shakhtar and Mkhitaryan
was on his way to Germany for a medical test. On 8 July, Borussia
Dortmund announced that it was set to sign a four-year deal with
Mkhitaryan for ~@25 (£21.5) million. Shakhtar and Borussia officially
“resolved all the necessary formalities” and agreed on [email protected] (£23.6)
million, making him the most expensive purchase in the club’s history.

On his debut in a pre-season friendly against FC Basel on 10 July 2013,
Mkhitaryan set up a goal for Marco Reus in the 11th minute and scored
his first goal for the club 16 minutes later, helping his side to a
3-1 victory away at St. Jakob-Park. Mkhitaryan couldn’t take part
and wasn’t listed in the squad at the 2013 DFL-Supercup which his
club won due to an injury he received on a friendly game before that.

Mkhitaryan debuted for BVB following his return from a three weeks
sustained injury in the second round of 2013-14 Bundesliga on 18
August 2013 in a BVB victory over Eintracht Braunschweig at BVB’s
Signal Iduna Park. Mkhitaryan’s first two Bundesliga goals were
decisive in a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt to keep Dortmund in
first place in the Bundesliga. His first Champions League goal for
Dortmund came in a 1-2 away win against Arsenal.

“The new defense minister of Azerbaijan wants to assert himself, he
tries his best to create an image of a strong minister,” parliamentary
deputy Karen Saribekian told the correspondent of Aysor.am, when
commenting on the Azerbaijani defense minister’s statements about
the solution of the Karabakh problem.

According to Saribekian, if Azerbaijan tries to carry out its threats,
“the losses will be too bitter”.

“The war will bring destruction and loss of life on both sides,
but this time the problem will be resolved. Although international
structures don’t react to Azerbaijan’s threats, we know our task and
we will solve the problem duly if necessary,” Karen Saribekian said.

Iran Worries About Fate Of Border With Artsakh

IRAN WORRIES ABOUT FATE OF BORDER WITH ARTSAKH

The minister of energy Armen Movsisyan passed Serzh Sargsyan’s message
to the president of Iran Hassan Rowhani, Radio Liberty announced
referring to the Iranian Press TV.

On the eve the director of the Iranian electricity network announced
that the countrywide outage in Armenia was not caused by isolation from
the Iranian network but emergency in the Armenian network while Armen
Movsisyan had announced that the outage was caused by being isolated
from the Iranian system. According to some other sources, the outage
was caused by an emergency in the thermal power plant of Hrazdan.

Most probably, in Iran Armen Movsisyan was asked if he is not ashamed
of lying. At least, the ministry of energy has not refuted the
announcement of the Iranian official that the problem was in Armenia.

It is not ruled out that Serzh Sargsyan’s message to the president
of Iran apologized to the Iranian side for blaming the Iranian system
for the accident on the Armenian side.

However, the main topic of the message was most probably different.

Energy was the occasion for sending the letter but the main issues
were different. First, it is the issue of Artsakh as the Armenian
side regularly informs Iran about any development relating to it. Iran
is directly interested in this issue. Furthermore, Iran is obviously
interested in preserving the status quo as Armenian, not Azerbaijan,
Russian or Western armed forces should be based there.

Recent developments relating to Artsakh are worrying. Whether the
Armenian side remembers Gulistan or not, the Russians have accepted
these reminders unofficially, and officially they have turned Artsakh
the key issue in the process of Armenia’s membership to the Customs
Union though the Customs Union is a tool in the issue of Artsakh,
not vice versa.

Despite these plans, the West made efforts to counteract activation
of negotiations and the prospect of surprises through Sargsyan-
Aliyev meeting which does not need any surprise in Karabakh because
negotiations with Iran are underway, and there is high probability
to reach an agreement. Foreign media informed about the unexpected
visit of the U.S. Secretary Kerry to Geneva where negotiations on the
nuclear issue is underway and he may meet with the Iranian foreign
minister. Generally, the U.S.-Iranian relations are taking interesting
turns after a pause of 40 years, namely the telephone talk between
Iran and the United States, flights between Tehran and Washington
are launched, nuclear negotiations are growing constructive.

In this situation Iran and the West would not want any surprises and
escalation of the Artsakh issue. On the contrary, since improvement
of relations between the West and Iran contradicts Russia’s strategic
interest since it obviously plays down Russia’s role in the Caucasus
and the Near East while Russia would opt for some escalation in
Artsakh to paralyze the least extent of normalization of relations
between the West and Iran.

The Armenian side has a key role. Armenia may either be helpful to the
Russian efforts or at least not impede the Iran-West relations. The
second is in line with the interests of Armenia for several reasons.

First, preserve the status quo and not allow appearance of Russian
peacekeepers there, which would end up in dividing Artsakh among
Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. Besides, the improvement of relations
between Iran and the West would open up big economic opportunities
in the Armenian-Iranian direction.

Recently the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have visited the region and
most probably they have arranged a Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting after a
pause of two years. It is interesting what Serzh Sargsyan has conveyed
to Hassan Rowhani that there will be a usual meeting and there is no
need to worry or expect surprises or Sargsyan apologized to Rowhani
not only for the ministry of energy but also for his upcoming meeting
with Aliyev during which Armenia may give a “customsunionish” consent.

By the way, this topic itself is a separate issue for the
Armenian-Iranian relation, considering the issue of customs Union. As
soon as Armenia becomes a member of the Customs Union, issues relating
to new customs procedures will come up as to what customs duties should
be charged, how the joint Iranian-Armenian economic programs will be
implemented. It is not accidental that Rowhani expressed hope during
the meeting with Armen Movsisyan that the joint Armenian-Iranian
programs will be accelerated. The Iranian side has concerns which
are related to not only developments relating to Artsakh but also
Armenia’s commitment to the Customs Union.

HOLY MARTYRS CHURCH 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION COMMENCES WITH EPISCOPAL
DIVINE LITURGY AND ORDINATION OF DEACONS AND STOLE-BEARERS

On Sunday, November 3, 2013 Holy Martyrs Church of Encino commenced
its 50th anniversary celebration with Episcopal Divine Liturgy celebrated by
H.E. Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, who also ordained deacons
and stole-bearers on this special occasion. Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian and
Parish Pastor Rev. Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian assisted at the altar. H.E.
Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian participated in the service as well.
The Church was filled beyond capacity as hundreds of faithful had
gathered to be part of this historic and momentous day. Central Executive
member Mr. Khajag Dikijian and Executive Council Chair Mrs. Rima Boghossian
were among the guests in attendance, as well as Ferrahian School 11th grade
students. Sunday School students joined the choir in the singing of the
Liturgy.
Accompanied by the “Hrashapar” hymn, the Prelate entered the
sanctuary to begin the service. After the Scripture reading by Sunday
School students, the ordination of deacons began with the “Oorakh Ler” hymn.
Rev. Fr. Razmig Khatchadourian presented the two candidates, Hovig
Seraydarian and Toukhman Khatchadourian, and testified that they are worthy
of ordination. The sub-deacons ascended the altar on their knees and facing
the altar, knelt before the Prelate. With his hand on their heads, the
Prelate prayed for God to extend His protective hand over them and to bless
them so that they are worthy of this calling to serve His holy church. May
they receive Your grace and spread it among the faithful as they serve our
one true Lord through their rank as deacons, recited His Eminence. He
prayed for them to leave behind the worldly and become preachers of His
Word, for god to cleanse them of sin, give them the strength and wisdom to
live righteously, and for the mercy of His son and the truth of the Holy
Spirit to be upon them.
The candidates then turned around to face the congregation, hands on
their ears with palms facing out as the “Divine Heavenly Grace” hymn was
sung. The Prelate placed his hands on their heads and prayed for God to
look upon His servants with mercy, keep them resolute in their calling,
increase their faith and love, and give them the strength and grace of the
first deacon and proto-martyr St. Stepehen so that they serve obediently and
humbly, filled with the Holy Spirit, and bring joy and goodness to
themselves and those around them.
With the Gospel reading by Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian, the Liturgy
continued until the Kiss of Peace when the ordinations continued. The
sub-deacons once again knelt before the Prelate, and with his hands on their
heads, His Eminence prayed for God to be the helper and protector of His
servants, keeping them in peace away from visible and invisible enemies so
they live just and pure lives and become worthy of eternal life in the
example of His saints. Placing the stoles on their left shoulders, he
called on the deacons to cast off the shadow of sin and to become an example
to others with their lives and actions. Presenting the Gospel, His Eminence
granted them permission to read the Word of God from the altar, and
presenting the censer, granted them permission to cense. The newly ordained
deacons censed three times, and before the final benediction, the Prelate
placed stoles on the shoulders of acolytes Hagop Demirjian, Manuel
Bayramian, Bedros Najarian, and Gary Markarian, elevating them to the rank
of stole-bearer. Thus the ordinations concluded, and the Liturgy continued
until the sermon.
The Prelate began by offering praise and glory to God for making us
worthy of participating in the Liturgy on All Saints Day, which is also the
name-day of Holy Martyrs Church and this year coincided with the 50th
anniversary. He congratulated the deacons and stole-bearers once again,
praying that they remain faithful in their calling. Service to our church,
from acolyte to the highest rank of Catholicos, begins with faith, hope, and
love, stressed the Prelate, and prayed for the Lord’s strength, wisdom, and
grace to lead them in their God-pleasing service. The Prelate offered the
same prayer for all the faithful, stating that as children of God, as
Christians created in the image of God and children of the Armenian
Apostolic Church, all of us must live God-pleasing lives strengthened by the
Holy Spirit.
Speaking on All Saints Day, the Prelate noted that in the early days
of Christians, martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our Lord and our faith
and became witnesses for the church were venerated individually. As the
number of martyrs grew, the Roman Catholic Church established a day for all
saints to be honored collectively. These saints, old and new, known and
unknown, were heroes and champions of our faith. They were pure men and
women who lived pure lives obedient to God’s commandments and were
persecuted for our Lord and for righteousness. All Saints Day, as the
name-day and pilgrimage day of Holy Martyrs Church, is an invitation, a call
to follow in their example of unwavering faith, utmost devotion to God,
selfless spirit of sacrifice, and purity. Nothing could shake their faith
or lead them astray from their path, not even torment and untold
afflictions.
With this same faith, love, and devotion, the founders of Holy
Martyrs Church established this church fifty years ago, stated the Prelate.
And each year, when we celebrate another anniversary, the message is for us
to reflect on the past and on our forefathers, and to pray for God to help
us live in their example and in the example of our martyrs who dedicated
their lives to worshipping God, to doing good; they loved God with all their
being and God blessed them and made them worthy of eternal life and of
inheriting His kingdom. On this 50th anniversary, my call is for servants
and faithful alike to live and serve with the faith, spirit, and devotion of
our martyrs, loving God with all your heart, said the Prelate. He blessed
the memory of the church founders and prayed for God to bless us, their
descendents, with faith, love, wisdom, and strength to continue their path
of service. He blessed and commended all those who serve for the progress
of our church, and blessed the students, stating that our churches and
schools are united in common cause and purpose. “Heavenly King, preserve
Your Church unshaken and keep in peace those who worship Your name,”
concluded the Prelate, and the Liturgy continued.
Prior to the Lord have Mercy prayer (Der Voghormya), Fr. Razmig
addressed the congregation On behalf of the Holy Martyrs Church family he
thanked the Prelate for the sharing in this special day and for the
ordinations, welcomed Archbishop Yeprem Tabakian, Rev. Fr. Boghos Tinkjian,
Mr. Khajag Dikijian, and Mrs. Rima Boghossian, and congratulated the new
deacons and stole-bearers. Fr. Razmig also announced that special donations
were made on the occasion of the Church 50th anniversary; he thanked Mr. and
Mrs. Garbis and Vart Berberian for donating a beautiful hand decorated
Bible, Dr. and Mrs. Garo and Lida Tchakian for sponsoring the new church
robes, and acknowledged the donation of the late Lucine Kahkejian which was
used to purchase new church vessels for this occasion.
The service came to a close with the requiem, during which prayers
were offered for departed church servants and faithful. By the request of
the Homenetmen Regional Executive and the ordinance of the Prelate, requiem
prayers were also offered for departed Homenetmen members.
With Homenetmen scouts standing at attention in the courtyard, the
Prelate was led in a procession to “Avedissian” Hall where he blessed the
madagh. The service came to a close with the Cilician and Armenian anthems.
The celebration continued with a sit-down luncheon during which the madagh
was served.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees Fr. Razmig welcomed the guests,
giving thanks to God for the opportunity to collectively celebrate the 50th
anniversary, which he stated was even more special because the church was
enriched with the ordination of deacons and stole-bearers. He thanked the
Prelate again for sharing in this historic day, stating, “we offer to you
our boundless gratitude. During your Prelature, the Prelacy has experienced
great growth, and you have impelled us in our service”. In conclusion, Fr.
Razmig thanked the Board of Trustees, Delegates, Ladies guild, and all the
church servants for their devoted service, the Executive Council for their
support, and the madagh sponsors for their generosity.
The luncheon also featured a cultural program of music, poetry, and
dance. Newly ordained deacon Hovig Seraydarian and his young daughter Nanor
presented two songs on the piano and violin . Young dancers from Lilia
Dance Group performed two dances, and Sunday School students recited poetry
and presented three group songs.
The historic day came to a close with the Prelate’s message.
“Let us build the holy altar of light, because from there light
dawned upon the Armenian nation”, began the Prelate with these words from
the “Etchmiadzin Ee Hore” hymn. Today’s service and this cultural program
are living witnesses to these words from the hymn sang by the Sunday School
students, stated His Eminence. St. Gregory the Illuminator had his vision
and received the sign to build the church, and with it the spiritual and
national lives of the Armenian people were illuminated. Hand in hand, with
faith and love, our religious forefathers established our church and spread
spiritual light. Thanks to God for sustaining our church over the
centuries. Stating that as the descendants of our forefathers it is our
duty to continue their path, the Prelate commended all servants, clergy and
laity alike, for their service. He greeted fellow clergy members Archbishop
Yeprem Tabakian, Fr. Boghos, and Fr. Razmig, Central and Executive Council
members Mr. Khajag Dikijian and Mrs. Rima Boghossian, Board of Trustees,
Delegates, altar servers, choir members, Sunday School staff and students,
stating that the more we are elevated in rank, the more deeply we must
serve, with humility, without judging one another, with Christ’s presence in
our hearts and souls. All that we do is for our spiritual awakening, said
His Eminence, thus, we must serve with pure hearts and minds, with
faithfulness and integrity, with goodness in our actions, words, and
thoughts, and for praise from God and not from people. The celebration
concluded with the Prelate’s benediction.
