French President Nicolas Sarkozy has called Turkish Ambassador in
France in an attempt to ease the tension caused after his Genocide
comment during the recent visit to Armenia, Turkish news agency
Anadolu reported.

Citing its own diplomatic sources the agency said that Jean-David
Levit, Sarkozy’s advisor on diplomatic and foreign policy issues,
summoned Turkish Ambassador Tahsin Burjoglu to the Elysee Palace and
assured him that Paris does not want to spoil relations with Ankara
at all.

Nicolas Sarkozy said during his recent visit to Armenia that Turkey
should re-visit its own history and recognize the Armenian Genocide
perpetrated at the hands of the Ottoman Empire in early 20th century,
otherwise France will have to adopt the bill criminalizing the denial
of the Armenian Genocide.

Levit also said that Sarkozy’s statement in Yerevan has been
misunderstood in Turkey, adding that France does not intend to go
against Turkey over that issue.

The French presidential adviser also told Tahsin Burjoglu that France
considers Turkey as a strong state and attaches importance to the
friendship between the two countries.

To have or not to have a Red Book

To have or not to have a Red Book

Aysor.am
Saturday,October 15

Many countries do not have a Red Book where the endangered animals and
plants are included. But they have lists like Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Armenia has got a Red Book.

Why is the Red Book important? And how can its absence affect the
preservation of the biodiversity?

Aram Aghasyan, the head of the Department of Preserves of the
Environment Ministry’s Bioresources Management Agency, answered to
those questions today.

He mentioned that the Red Book is an international notion and the
International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources
(IUCN) has got standards which the countries follow.

`There are species that can be found in Armenia only, however that
species are not endangered in Armenia. In that case too it is needed
to preserve those species as we have signed the convention of
preservation of biodiversity and we are obliged to protect them.’

Azerbaijan and Georgia do not have Red Book but instead they have
corresponding lists which as Aram Aghasyan says have informative
problems. In the Red Book there is information about this or that
species on its appearance, extension etc.

`In the Red Book there are also all the nature protection events that
are realized for preserving this or that species,’ he said.

`The Red Book is not only for the specialists but for raising the
level of being well informed,’ Aram Aghasyan stressed.

IRAN’S SUPREME LEADER RAPS U.S. TERROR ACCUSATIONS AS ‘MEANINGLESS’

PanARMENIAN.Net

PanARMENIAN.Net – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyed Ali Khamenei rapped the U.S. accusations that two Iranians
planned to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington as
“meaningless and useless.”

“They attempted to find an excuse through raising a meaningless and
useless accusation against a number of Iranian nationals to wage
a political propaganda attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran to
introduce it as a sponsor of terrorism, but the conspiracy failed and
will fail to produce any result and will remain futile and ineffective
like their other measures,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on Saturday,
October 15, addressing a large gathering of people in the Western
Kermanshah province.

“(Such plots) will lead to their own further isolation contrary to
their imaginations,” he added, Fars News Agency reported.

The remarks came after U.S. officials on Tuesday alleged that they had
charged two Iranians, one of them a dual U.S. citizen, with preparing
to carry out a bomb attack on the Saudi envoy under a plan “conceived,
sponsored and directed from Iran”.

AZERI OFFICIALS SHIFT FROM WHINING AGGRESSIVENESS TO AGGRESSIVE WHINING

PanARMENIAN.Net

PanARMENIAN.Net – Azerbaijan’s hypocritical moaning over the
repercussions of Baku-initiated aggression against Nagorno Karabakh
Republic is old news, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister said,
commenting on Azeri officials’ concern over Armenia and Artsakh
military might combined with Baku threats of renewed war.

According to Shavarsh Kocharian, the only change is Azeri officials’
shift from whining aggressiveness to aggressive whining, which is
explainable. “Baku has to justify itself to people who demand to know
to what use the billions, spent on weaponry, were put. Azerbaijan
is yet to explain why the military rhetoric didn’t work. Aliyev’s
ruling clan is now in a standstill – up against its own people,”
the Armenian official said.
