BAZNA, JUNE 26, NOYAN TAPAN. On June 25 Rafayel Vahanian defeated
Layosh Portish (Hungary) in the ninth stage of the International Chess
Tournament held in the city of Bazna in Romania. The Armenian grand
master and Alezandre Khalifman (Russia) are in the lead with six points
each. They will meet each other in the last stage of the tournament.
