Armenia marks Engineering Troops Day

September 7 (today) is celebrated in Armenia as Engineering Troops
Day, Calend.ru says.

The first engineering unit was formed in the Armenian army on
September 7, 1992. Engineering Troops Day has been celebrated in
Armenia since 2000. Armenian engineering troops celebrated their 20th
anniversary in 2012.

Engineering troops include engineer-sapper, engineer-road, pontoon and
other sub-units. One of the primary tasks of engineering troops is
mine clearing in the Karabakh conflict zone.

Armenian engineering troops have gained unique work experience
including combat experience, humanitarian mine clearing experience and
international experience. They worked in mountains, plains, forests
and moorland.
