YEREVAN. – The situation on opening an airport in Artsakh
[Nagorno-Karabakh] capital city is another factor which has promoted
the increase of tension recently, Special Representative of the OSCE
Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus, Ambassador Padraig
Murphy told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Whatever is done in relation to the airport, it can have no
consequences for the status of the territory. This summer the OSCE
Minsk Group Co-Chairs received assurances by both sides that they will
restrain from applying force or threat of force against civil jets,
will approach the issue diplomatically, and will avoid politicizing
it. I hope and believe that those obligations will be observed,”
he said.

Perspectives of resuming the Stepanakert airport bring forth
Azerbaijan’s hysteric reaction. The airport is going to serve 100
passengers in an hour at the beginning, while Air Artsakh will realize
the flights.
