The Armenian authorities have adopted official policies to create
obstacles for the Syrian-Armenians wishing to travel to their homeland
amid the mounting crisis, the paper says commenting on the increased
air fares on the Yerevan-Aleppo flights.

It has quoted Tevos Nersisyan, a spokesperson at the Ministry of
Diaspora, as saying that they do not wish the country’s Armenian
community to split apart.

“Officials from other government agencies have said the same
non-officially. with different hints and wordings. That’s to say,
the authorities are not, mildly speaking, enthusiastic about the plan
to host the Syrian-Armenians. And this happens amid the increasing
emigration from Armenia. It turns out the Diaspora-Armenians are
important for us only for sending transfers, visiting Armenia for
a couple of days to see Ararat and hire extremely expensive rooms
in hotels belonging to officials and justify the existence of the
Ministry of Diaspora,” comments the paper.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
