The law created regarding the violation of Davit Ghazinyan’s immunity is unprecedented.

“Strong Armenia” party member Gohar Meloyan writes.

“In recent years, we have witnessed various violations of the Constitution and constitutionality.

However, in the context of the violation of the Constitution against political opponents, the situation regarding the violation of the immunity of the member of the National Assembly, Davit Ghazinyan, is unprecedented.

The law-enforcement system, realizing that the mandates will be provided to the deputies on July 21, sent his criminal proceedings to the court at breakneck speed in order to limit his freedom for a few more days.

Thus, having acquired the status of a deputy of the National Assembly since July 21, Davit Ghazinyan continues to be under arrest, being deprived of his freedom. This is an obvious and gross violation of Article 96 of the Constitution. As for Ghazinyan, who is under unjustified detention due to obvious political motivation, one of the most important rules of parliamentarism, the principle of parliamentary immunity, is violated.”
