Armenia acting PM on Syunik roads, Russian military posts: This is only place where there are working nuances

News.am, Armenia

YEREVAN. – They say, "There are secret arrangements, there are secret documents;" but there is nothing. If there is any arrangement related to Syunik [Province], in particular—roads, Russian [military] posts—, I have spoken openly about them. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia stated this at Friday’s meeting with the ruling Civil Contract Party supporters at Ajapnyak district of Yerevan.

"It is the only place where there are working nuances; but I have said it all verbally. Today, people—in the same Meghri [town]—with a group of provocateurs, are trying to accuse us of allegedly giving the Meghri corridor [to Azerbaijan], and they support the political force [led by second President Robert Kocharyan] that put the issue of handing over the Meghri region to Azerbaijan at the 1999 sitting of the Security Council of Armenia. We are told, 'It is enough that you blame the former [Armenian authorities].' [But] today it turns out that they are blaming us," Pashinyan noted.

The acting premier announced that he will go the way of ruling out a new war. "I will go the way of opening an era of peaceful development for our people; I say this openly. Let others say what they will do in this situation. We should not be afraid of anything. Yes, we must draw the enclosures of our country," Nikol Pashinyan added.

We can provide our army with some key, modernized weapons, says Armenia ex-President Kocharyan

News.am, Armenia

YEREVAN. – This war showed that military industry should have been the sector that could have ensured the rear for the army—in terms of important ammunition. Robert Kocharyan, the second President and leader of the “Armenia” bloc—which will run in the snap parliamentary elections on June 20—, stated this during a meeting with the residents and this bloc’s active members at three administrative districts of the capital Yerevan, in connection with the reasons for the defeat of the Armenian side in the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war last fall.

"We saw that we were surrounded by countries even the use of airspace of which was quite problematic for us. We have had a serious import problem for three weeks.

This was a very difficult lesson for Armenia. But if we do not learn something from here, if we do not considerably change our policy on military industry, we will be left in the same former miserable condition. Yes, we have to do [that]!

It is clear that a small country [like Armenia] cannot deal with all types of weapons; but we are able to do it with several key, modernized types. There are countries of our size that have brilliant results in the military industrial sector. We must have a major military-industrial complex," said the second President.

Armenia 2nd President: I see possibility of restoring borders of Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast

News.am, Armenia

The territorial losses are such that we Armenians need to set real objectives for ourselves. Robert Kocharyan, the second President and leader of the “Armenia” bloc—which will run in the snap parliamentary elections on June 20—, stated this during a meeting with the residents and this bloc’s active members at three administrative districts of the capital Yerevan.

“As far as the former borders of Armenia are concerned, there simply couldn’t have been any conversation at all. As far as Nagorno-Karabakh is concerned, we need to be able to maintain at least what exists today and try to solve the issue of restoration of the borders of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast during future discussions on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. I can envision this, and I see an opportunity in the next few years. This will be extremely difficult because, first and foremost, we suffered major losses in the process of negotiations as well. First, we need to move the issue to the domain of the right to self-determination,” he said, adding that this will be possible, if Armenia restores the capacity of the armed forces very quickly because if it doesn’t, the negotiations will be eternal and ineffective.

ARF-D member on Nikol Pashinyan: 103 years ago Armenia’s founding fathers would have executed him for treason

News.am, Armenia

Those who crushed the dreams of our people, the person who is leading our state to the brink of elimination and the person claiming himself as head of state dares to blame Aram Manukyan, Hovhannes Kajaznuni, Dro and Nzhdeh for delivering our lands and treason. This is what representative of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party Ishkhan Saghatelyan stated near the statue of Aram Manukyan in Yerevan today.

“On this day 103 years ago, after a century-long interval, there was a light of hope in the darkness, the people who were saved from Armenian Genocide, stood up again and battled for survival, and they not only lived and were saved, but also established statehood. We Armenians established a parliament, ministries, a university, schools and an army. We also had a national anthem, a national flag and a coat-of-arms. Famine, an epidemic and the constantly advancing enemy were threatening to eliminate the new statehood, but we established a state, and 70 years later, our country regained independence. The new and brilliant generation of Armenians added to the heritage of the founding fathers, and our people became closer to their dream. Those who crushed the dreams of our people, the person who is leading our state to the brink of elimination and the person claiming himself as head of state dares to blame Aram Manukyan, Hovhannes Kajaznuni, Dro and Nzhdeh for delivering our lands and treason. He [Nikol Pashinyan] dares to blame those who established statehood. This is the worst type of a person who has come to power and whom our founding fathers would have executed or imprisoned 103 years ago for desertion and treason. This person is currently doing away with our achievements. He talks about peace, yet imposes capitulation on us Armenians. He talks about the future, yet he is destroying the future of the Armenians and is trying to kill us and our dreams,” Saghatelyan stated, adding that the Armenian nation didn’t die, contrary to the enemy’s plan.

“Just like we gathered here on September 27, 2020 and swore to go to the border and defended our homeland, here, in front of the statue of Aram Manukyan, we must promise to protect our statehood, our country and drive out the government of evil through combined efforts,” he said.
