Armenian Genocide centennial commemorated at Washington National Cathedral – Video

A prayer service commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held at the Washington National CathedralĀ on May 7.

The service remembers those lost in the genocide and shows gratitude for the regeneration of life that the survivors worked so hard to create.

United States Vice President Joseph Biden and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, joined President of Armenia Serzh Sarkisian, Catholicos Karekin II, and Catholicos Aram I, in a prayer service.

ā€œI should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again.
