Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia tires to expand the geography of its
involvement in international peacekeeping operations.

Head of Arms Control and International Security Department of Armenian
Foreign Ministry Samvel Lazarian told journalists today that Armenia
is trying to be largely involved in the peacekeeping actions under
the UN auspices.

He recalled that besides participation in the peacekeeping actions
in Afghanistan and Kosovo, Armenia is also considered a participant
of UNIFIL peacekeeping actions held in South Lebanon.

“We have had one observer so far, but we are going to send a larger
contingent there. I hope as a result of the cooperation with Italy
and UN, we will be able to deploy them this autumn”, said the Foreign
Ministry representative.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
