YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. The first flight between Stepanakert
and Yerevan may take place this spring. As reports “Armenpress” citing
French Le Monde, the Prime Minister of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic
Arayik Harutyunyan, who paid a visit to Paris, stated this during
the press conference. Harutyunyan underscored: “The construction of
the airport is over. Notwithstanding the date of the flights has not
been clarified yet. There are also certain technical issues, which
must be solved. The issue of the Stepanakert Airport must be solved
from the human point of view instead of political, because each man
has the right to free travel both by land and air.”

Stepanakert Airport is 10 km away from Stepanakert city. It was built
in 1974 and generally used to receive flights from Yerevan and Baku.

During Nagorno Karabakh War the airport served to the military
purposes.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
