SERZH SARGSYAN MEETS WITH VALENTINA MATVIYENKO, BORIS GRYZLOV

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Russia for a state
visit, met today with the Speaker of Russia’s upper house of parliament
Valentina Matviyenko and Speaker of Russia’s State Duma (lower house
of parliament) Boris Gryzlov.

President’s Press Office reported that during the meeting Serzh
Sargsyan first congratulated Valentina Matviyenko on being elected
speaker of Russia’s upper house of parliament, wished success in
her office.

During the meeting the interlocutors noted that the state visit of
Serzh Sargsyan passes quite effectively, a number of Russian-Armenian
cooperation agreements have been signed. According to them, the
agreements open new perspectives for reinforcement of bilateral
relations. It was noted that the political, economic, military,
humanitarian cooperation between two partner states are on a high
level and correspond to the spirit of friendship between the peoples
of Armenia and Russia.

President Serzh Sargsyan underlined the cooperation between the
National Assembly of Armenia and two houses of the Russian parliament.

The parties highlighted cooperation between the parliaments of the
two countries within the framework of parliamentary assemblies of
international organizations.

The role of the Armenian community in reinforcement of relations
between the two countries has also been stressed.

Within the framework of the state visit Serzh Sargsyan will also meet
with the Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor
Sergey Sobyanin.
