Expert at International Crisis Group Hug Pop has appreciated the
factor of Azerbaijan in Turkey-Armenia relations.
Pop has described Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a time bomb,
Turkey-based Hurriyet newspaper reports.

Analyzing 12 June parliamentary elections in Turkey, ICG
representative in Turkey Hug Pop touched upon prospects of
Turkey-Armenia relations and the factor of Azerbaijan in this matter.

`Unfortunately, AKP did not go ahead with the efforts to resume ties
with Armenia. I think the protocols adopted in 2009 are perfect. This
was a good starting point.’

Pop said Turkey should not sacrifice rapprochement with Armenia to
fraternal ties with Azerbaijan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
