MP supports strengthening parliament’s role in Karabakh settlement
Fri 10 June 2011 11:18 GMT | 14:18 Local Time
The Azerbaijani parliament should create a commission on Karabakh to
facilitate the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, said MP Faraj
Guliyev.
“Creation of the Azerbaijani parliament committee on Nagorno Karabakh
can play a supportive role for the president of the republic in the
negotiation process and strengthen the role of the law-makers in
solving the problem,” Guliyev told a plenary session of the Milli
Majlis on Friday.
He said the creation of a parliamentary commission on Karabakh is
especially important at the present time, when a new stage in the
Karabakh settlement is coming.
“The activities of international mediators on the Karabakh conflict
cannot be considered satisfactory. Mediators fail to perform their
task. Therefore, a new format to resolve this conflict may appear in
autumn’, he said.
