Adam Schiff Turkish ambassador on Armenian lobby’s new initiative.

Turkish Ambassador in Washington, D.C. Namik Tan said on Thursday
that he considered that Armenians would not achieve anything regarding
Congressman Adam Schiff’s initiative.

When he was reminded that Schiff called survivors of 1915 incidents
to submit their stories for inclusion into the Congressional Record
and asked if Turkey had an initiative against it, Tan said, "we left
behind a very sensitive period regarding Armenians. They regarded it
as a big defeat. They will exert such efforts. But I think that they
will not achieve anything."

Tan said, "if such stories are included in the Congressional Record,
we will document more stories and put them in the record. I don’t
have any concern on the matter."

Tan also said Turkish State Minister for foreign trade Zafer Caglayan
would visit Washington, D.C. within this month and bilateral economic
relations would be discussed during Caglayan’s visit.

Sources said Caglayan would hold talks with his US counterparts and
representatives of privates sector during his visit scheduled to take
place between May 18 and 20.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
