PRESS RELEASE

Join the Fun and Festivities at the
ARS 9th Armenian Festival Set to Begin on May 1

Glendale, CA.- Once again, the Glendale Civic Auditorium will be transformed
into a little Armenia for a weekend, from Saturday, May 1 to Sunday May 2,
2010. Live music, food aromas, cultural exhibits, dance performances, and
children’s games will cater to the tastes of young and old alike, bringing
three generations of families together for fun and entertainment.

The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Western U.S.A., Regional Executive’s
Festival Committee has been planning for this event since September 2009,
always with the aim of enhancing the experience of all who come by,
Armenians and non-Armenians alike. This year, the opening ceremonies
scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, May 1, will be dedicated to the ARS
Centennial. The committee has been coordinating with compatriotic
organizations, and the 26 chapters in the region, to set up authentic
displays of regional costumes, artwork, instruments or utensils, and
documentation.

The Glendale Civic Auditorium has two levels. The entrance is from the
western lower level, which houses children’s activities and the cultural
exhibits, including string cheese and "Lavash" (thin bread) making
demonstrations. The upper level will have the stage performances, including
costume shows, Armenian folk dancing by local performers, Armenian folk
dance classes, and popular Armenian singers. The opening ceremonies will be
held on this level with the participation of Homenetmen girl scouts and
marching band.

The Glendale Civic Auditorium is located at 1401 N Verdugo Rd., Glendale, CA
91208. Hours are 1 pm to 12 midnight on Saturday, May 1; and 11 am to 7 pm
on Sunday, May 2. Admission to the general public is $3 per person.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
