Armenia-Turkey reconciliation was initiated by Moscow not by Yerevan,
Armenian National Congress (ANC) representative David Shahnazaryan
said in Feb. 18. press conference.

In the vein of its relations with Turkey, Russia initiated
Armenia-Turkey normalization and Protocols’ ratification to please
Ankara and to prejudice of Yerevan, Shahnazaryan emphasized. According
to him, Turkey only will benefit from the process.

Shahnazaryan expressed confidence that Russia is concerned with
Armenia-Turkey Protocols’ ratification solely, as it is in Ankara’s
interests. Moscow is uninterested in border opening at all. In this
context Armenian leadership will agree with all, even to the detriment
of national interests, if it will enable to extend the ruling regime
term even awhile. He forecasted that Armenia will ratify the Protocols
first. Presently, Armenia-Turkey normalization process escalated into
confrontation. In addition, U.S. will not recognize Armenian Genocide
in Ottoman Empire in the near future, Shahnazaryan concluded.
