At 4 pm on January 17, the World Doctors Orchestra (WDO) charity
concert, sponsored by Armenia’s culture and healthcare ministries, will
take place in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in central Yerevan.

World Doctors Orchestra founder and conductor is Stefan Willich,
Professor in Medicine at the Charite University Medical Center
in Berlin, the largest medical school in Europe. He is also an
experienced musician and studied conducting and violin in Stuttgart,
Berlin, Boston/Tanglewood, and Paris.

On the occasion of the Yerevan concert, Willich had come to Armenia
in August 2009 and met with Minister of Healthcare Harutyun Kushkyan.

The evening program wil include work by Harutyunyan, Tchaikovsky, and
Beethoven, and will feature soloist Sergej Khachatryan on violin, who,
in 2005, claimed the First Prize at the Queen Elizabeth Competition
in Brussels.

According to the WDO official site, the World Doctors Orchestra was
founded in 2007 and combines the pleasure of fine music with global
medical responsibility. Twice a year, some 100 physicians from all
over the world exchange their white coats for evening attire and
perform a benefit concert for medical aid projects.

This particular charity concert, organized by Dr. Armine Majinyan
(Yerevan), aims to raise funds to secure new equipment for dental
medical care of children with disabilities at the "Salvation" orphanage
in Yerevan.
