YEREVAN, AUGUST 7, NOYAN TAPAN. "The Armenian people have a special
attitude to builders: over the centuries this profession has been among
those favored by the Armenians," RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan
stated at the August 7 event held on the occasion of Day of Builder.

According to him, builders have always been held in high respect by the
people, although it is only four years since we started celebrating
officially this holiday in Armenia. "We have talented architects
and builders, and I am convinced that we together will overcome the
temporary difficulties and take pride in the work we did," the prime
minister said.

In the words of Minister of Urban Development Vardan Vardanian, the
construction sector has undergone serious development in recent years.

Advanced technologies were introduced, modern equipment and new
types of building materials are being used, and the improvement in
the legislation field allows establishing full technical control of
the construction process and raise the quality of work.

The minister underlined that over the past years the sector has
assumed the role of a leader in the economy, which is of importance in
terms of revenue collection for the state budget and infrastructures’
development. However, today the situation is not quite satisfactory
because the global crisis has affected the sector. At the same time
the minister said that the government is taking anti-crisis measures,
thanks to which some positive trends have already emerged in the
economy.

A number of specialists received RA Prime Minister letters of thanks
for their contribution to architecture and construction and active
participation in the sector’s establishment and development. The
minister of urban development presented gold medals of the ministry

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
