"Those in Georgia are glad that Armenia differentiates between
the concepts of ‘strategic partner’ and ‘close neighbor,’"
Georgian political scientist Soso Tsiskarashvili said today
during the Yerevan-Tbilisi space-bridge. According to him, the
latest visit of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to Georgia was
urgent and expected, because Georgians had concerns connected with
Armenia’s attitude towards "Georgian secessionist" states. At
the same time Tsiskarashvili noted that the construction of the
Batumi-Akhaltskha-Akhalkalak-Gyumri-Yerevan highway and granting
of "new passports" to Javakhki Armenians could put an end to the
cooperation between the two countries, since Georgia does not need
a new secessionist movement in Javakhk.

In response to that political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan noted
that Armenians understand the concerns of Georgians in the context
of latest transformations in the South Caucasus. In his words, it was
important for Armenian authorities to dispel those concerns. Alexander
Iskandaryan added that different forces have exerted influence on
Armenia to recognize or not recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia,
and in general there are forces in the outer world, for which it is
beneficial to provoke clashes between Armenians and Georgians. However,
according to th e political scientist, Armenia and Georgia have always
managed to maintain normal friendly relations.

Adviser to Georgian President Van Baiburt declared that the latest
Sargsyan-Saakashvili meeting and the agreements reached were important
for both peoples.

YERKRAMAS: BAKU AGAIN TRIES TO DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN COSSACKS AND ARMENIANS

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Azerbaijan is again attempting to drive a wedge
between Cossacks and Armenians, the editor-in-chief of Yerkramas, the
newspaper of Armenians of Russia, Tigran Tavadyan said when commenting
on the interview Viktor Mereshkin, the head of Association of Cossacks
of Azerbaijan, gave to Day.az internet portal.

"Mereshkin tried to revive the rumors spread by the Azeri and
Turkish propagandists in 1990-ies about Armenians’ claims to
Russian territories, specifically the city of Armavir in Krasnodar
region. Following the instructions of the Azeri special services,
Mereshkin as if reminds of the unsuccessful attempt to set Armenian and
Cossacks of Kuban at loggerheads in early 1990-ies, when anti-Armenian
leaflets were circulated throughout the region," he said.

"However, fraternal relations between Cossacks and Armenians started
during the Russian-Turkish wars and strengthened with time. The
Cossacks take part in annual Armenian Genocide commemorating events,
inauguration of a monument to Cossacks in Yerevan and, finally, the
visit of Cossacks of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Transnistria, South
Ossetia and Abkhazia to Yerevan and Stepanakert, where a trilateral
agreement on cooperation was signed," Tavadyan concluded.

ARMENIAN-GEORGIAN RELATIONS WERE NEVER GOOD, BUT WILL NEVER BE EXTREMELY BAD

PanARMENIAN.Net

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Given the reformation of the South Caucasus, the
Georgian leadership has to understand the position of Armenia and
from this angle the visit of the Armenian President to Tbilisi is
very important, director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan
said during Yerevan-Tbilisi TV space bridge today.

The Armenian-Georgian relations were never good, but they will never
be extremely bad, according to him.

"Armenia’s peculiar geographical position forces it to have normal
relations with all neighbors, what’s not simple taking into account the
complicated Iran-U.S. and Russia-Georgia relationship. Nevertheless,
the Armenian complementary policy proved its maturity during the
August events," he said.

"Proceeding from its own interests, Armenia builds relations with NATO,
CSTO and EU. Similar pragmatism operates as regard Georgia," he said.

BAKU PROPAGANDISTS ATTEMPTING TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Publications by Baku propagandists and their foreign
accomplices about so-called "genocide of Mountain Jews" represent one
of the branches of the policy of falsification of Azerbaijani history,
head of the institute of national and strategic studies at the RA
Defense Ministry, major general Hayk Kotanjyan said when commenting on
Azeri media reports that the Knesset intends to form a commission to
investigate "the genocide of Mountain Jews" perpetrated in early 20th
century in the territory of present-day Azerbaijan, the RA Defense
Minister’s spokesman, col. Seyran Shahsuvaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net.

The aim of these falsifications is to divert attention from
the Armenian Genocide and the massacre of Armenians in Baku
and Yelizavetpole provinces in the territory of present-day
Azerbaijan. Armenians had to defend their families in 1988 and in 1990,
during the pogroms in Sumgait, Kirovabad and Baku. And heirs of the
Holocaust understand it. Immorality of the Azeri propaganda machine
is well known. I call on my counterparts in Israel and numerous Jewish
Diaspora to protect friendship between Jews and South Caucasus nations
from falsifiers.

Yerevan-Akhalkalaki-Batumi Highway Not To Become Second Roki Tunnel

YEREVAN-AKHALKALAKI-BATUMI HIGHWAY NOT TO BECOME SECOND ROKI TUNNEL

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Georgia is in a habit to explain its problems by
outer factors, an Armenian political scientist said.

"It’s an erroneous thesis because all problems go deep into the
past. Some Georgian officials think that Yerevan-Akhalkalaki-Batumi
can become a second Roki tunnel. However, I would like to mention that
complete isolation is not a way out. On the contrary, it may provoke
a conflict," director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan
said during Yerevan-Tbilisi TV space bridge today.

"The necessity of a new motorway emerged during the August events
when the only way connecting Georgia and Armenia was almost blocked
by those wishing to leave Georgia," he added.

For his part, political scientist Alexander Markarov said that the idea
to build a new highway has not received a feedback from Georgia yet.

According to Georgian expert Soso Tsiskarishvili this project might be
"the initiative of Mr. Putin" and no one can guarantee that "Russian
will not march along it one day." "We should be extremely cautious
and find out how beneficial such a project will be for both Armenia
and Georgia," he said.

Armenia Should Make It Clear What The USA, Russia, Turkey And Even T

ARMENIA SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR WHAT THE USA, RUSSIA, TURKEY AND EVEN THE EU PROMISE HER FOR "MODEL BEHAVIOUR"
Karine Ter-Sahakyan

PanARMENIAN.Net

In fact, Armenia is offered temporary economic dividends, which in
the future will simply bring to a loss of independence, not to mention
the country’s sovereignty.

Baku demonstrates hyper-nervousness in connection with the
latest developments in the region, particularly because of the
consolidation of Turkey’s position after Mikhail Saakashvili’s
unsuccessful blitzkrieg, which "guaranteed" regional reshaping for
all and retirement for Saakashvili himself. Azerbaijani political
analysts and experts began to comment out exactly every word uttered
by Armenia, never doubting accuracy of the received information and
quoting some unauthorized Armenian mass media.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Thus, political analyst Rasim Musabekov states that
"The bright prospects described in the Armenian mass media as regards
the link between Armenia and Turkey to be constituted through the
railway line Gyumri-Igdir, as well as the viewpoint that it can stir
up competition against the railway magistral Baku-Akhalkalaki-Kars can
only arouse laughter"… The Kremlin, which despite the declarations
of the RF Foreign Minister still gives preference to Armenia against
Azerbaijan, has a hand in Musabekov’s statement, which, as usual,
comprises more hypothetical than factual elements. However, once
again it is the standpoint of Azeri political analysts, who follow
the example of Vafa Guluzade, whose amazing "revelations" have already
become the talk of the town.

Fuel was added to the fire of Azerbaijani ambitions by the visits of
the US Administration high-ranking officials. In our opinion Baku
doesn’t believe that the arrival of John Negroponte or the regular
travels of Mathew Bryza to Azerbaijan are made for the mere sake
of pleasing her. But for its oil, no one would ever take notice
of Azerbaijan; a position we now face in Armenia. Simply after the
reckless move of Georgia, Armenia was offered a chance to become a
transit country for the energy carriers. Thus, US representatives’
visits to our country are to be expected too, and not only after
the Presidential Elections. However, all this is not so important,
especially when October 15 is just around the corner.

It should be made clear what the USA, Russia, Turkey and even the
EU promise Armenia for her "model behaviour". "Model behaviour"
as such comprises renunciation of strategic basis of Armenian state
system: handover of Nagorno Karabakh, silence in the recognition of the
Armenian Genocide and absence of territorial claims against Turkey. The
latter can be somehow submitted, as Armenia has neither resources nor
manpower to lay claims on at least part of Western Armenia. In this
particular case the matter will concern only compensation, which by
the most conservative estimate will be no less than US$50 billion,
and neither the current nor the future Turkish Government can pay it,
even by installments.

Instead, Armenia is offered participation in such regional projects
as Nabucco, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and Kars-Akhalkalaki-Baku
railroad. Besides, there is also the project of Yerevan-Batumi highway,
which, by the way, is of great importance not only to Armenia but to
Georgia as well. However, Leader of the Georgian Opposition Shalva
Natelashvili is sure that the agreement signed between Mikhail
Saakashvili and the Armenian President on building Yerevan-Batumi
highway through Goderdzi pass is nothing else but "a new Roki tunnel
on our soil, where complex, awful separatism is certain to break
out." "And it will not take long," declared Natelashvili, obviously
having in view Javakhk…

In fact, Armenia is offered temporary economic dividends, which in the
future will simply bring to a loss of independence, not to mention the
country’s sovereignty. In a word, we may face the Georgian scenario,
when Turkey’s territorial expansion totally wrecked the country’s
economy. Now Turkey is determined to do the same with Armenia,
with the help of Russia of course. According to Director of Caucasus
Institute Alexander Iskandaryan Baku feels extremely awkward in the
light of Turkish-Russian developing relations. "We shall observe
the future developments. In my opinion, what is going on in the
Armenian-Turkish relations are merely opportunities, which did not
exist before. But these opportunities should still be seized, they
should be regained. Much depends on Yerevan-Ankara interaction and
on the internal processes in Turkey, as a considerable part of the
Turkish political elite and its population do not welcome the onset
of these processes. So, I can conclude that resumption of Baku’s
bellicose rhetoric depends on two main factors: Armenia’s foreign
policy and Turkey’s domestic affairs," Iskandaryan stated.

Thus, Baku and Tbilisi have to be reminded that on the whole
aggressive war is nothing else but an armed robbery in especially
large dimensions, and the punishment for it is extreme penalty.
