Armenia has a good team, the Armenian football has great future, head
coach of the Armenian national football team Jan Poulsen told a press
conference today. He is content with the three most recent football
matches with the national teams of Moldova and Greece and the "Kickers"
German club, specially noting the match with Greece. According to Jan
Poulsen, no trainer can say why his team played well in one match,
but did not succeed in another one.

According to the coach, some very interesting matches took place
in the framework of the Euro 2008: Germany-Croatia, Austria-Poland,
Holland-Italy and others. The future rivals of the Armenian team –
Spain and Turkey, are powerful teams, and playing with them, as well
as with Belgium and Bosnia-Herzegovina, will be very difficult.

Jan Poulsen noted that he has been in Armenia for 4.5 months and he
lives and works here with pleasure. He considers that the Armenian
football and clubs have good perspectives, but attention should be
paid not only to the national team and the national league, but also
to children’s and youth football. Although the Armenian team is not
among favourites, it tries to show an effective game against any team,
he said.

The Armenian national team will play another friendly match on August
20 and is now negotiating with different countries. According to the
trainer, the result of his work will become obvious in the official
matches that will start in September.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
