RA GOVERNMENT PRESENTS ITS DRAFT PROGRAM

During its special session today the Government of the Republic of
Armenia adopted its new program to be introduced to the National
Assembly on April 29. At the beginning of the discussions, RA Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsyan informed that the draft program was discussed
with all parties represented in the coalition; all the remarks and
suggestions have been included in the program. The draft was discussed
with the Heritage faction, as well and most of the suggestions of
this force have been taken into consideration.

During its activity the Government will have five priorities. Ensuring
stable development through national security and active economic
policy will be among the main priorities of the Government. Another
priority is the formation of the system of governance of state and
local self-government bodies and the private sector, establishment
of the culture of corporative governance. The third priority is the
development of education and science, as well as the equal territorial
development. The last priority is the social protection of RA citizens.

As a result of implementation of the Program, the Government expects
an annual 8-10% increase in GDP in 2008-2012, annual 10% increase
of investments, considerable reduction of inconsistency in regional
development, 10% growth of non-agricultural employment, rise of the
level of collection of state revenues.

The Program envisages considerable poverty reduction in the country,
ensuring the level of poverty below 11.2% of and extreme poverty
below 1.6%, annual increase of pensions.
