RA Prime Minister, President-elect Serge Sargsyan declared during the
meeting with students of the State Economic University today that
Kosovo cannot be a precedent for the settlement of the Karabakh
issue. He noted from the legal perspective the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict differs from other conflicts.

"Kosovo cannot be a precedent in the sense that Armenia is not going to
recognize the independence of NKR in the foreseeable future. However,
since we have always backed the fulfillment of the right of nations to
self-determination, from this point of view we welcome the independence
of Kosovo," RA President-elect declared.

Serge Sargsyan did not agree with the assertion that by recognizing the
independence of Kosovo Armenia will damage its relations with Russia.

"Our countries will always have friendly relations, but it does not
mean that Armenia must ignore its interests for the sake of Russia’s
interests," the Prime Minister said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
