Yerevan /Mediamax/. Ex-President Levon Ter-Petrosian stated in Yerevan
today that "one can see only in a nightmare that in the course of
the nearest 10 years, Armenia will be ruled by the representatives
of the present regime".

Mediamax reports that, speaking at a news conference in Yerevan
today, Levon Ter-Petrosian stated that in case he wins during the
presidential elections of February 19, members of his team will be
the representatives of those political forces, which support him
today. "Those people are well-known to you, each of the political
forces will gain positions in proportion with the contribution,
made to reaching victory", the first President of Armenia stated.

He stated that "among the candidates for the position of the President,
we are the only force, really standing against the authorities".

Answering the question of a journalist, according to whom the Leader
of the National-Democratic Union Vazgen Manukian continues arguing
that he gained a victory during the elections of 1996 over Levon
Ter-Petrosian, the Ex-President stated:

"Politics is a legal process, and the reality is in the fact that,
contesting the results of the elections of 1996, Vazgen Manukian and
his supporters presented to the Constitutional Court copies of over
1000 protocols from the electoral areas. As a result of the check
realized, they found out that inaccuracies were marked only in a few
dozens of protocols", Levon Ter-Petrosian stated.

"Vazgen Manukian did not manage to bring any proofs then for his
statements, according to which the elections were falsified", the
Ex-President stated.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
