Five political forces to support Vazgen Manukyan

Five political forces of Armenia announced today that they will support
Vazgen Manukyan’s candidacy in the presidential elections of February
19, 2008.
Besides the National Democratic Union, he is assisted by the Alliance
of National Democrats, the National Democratic Party, the
`Constitutional Right’ Union and the `Nation State’ Party.
Vazgen Manukyan has declared that in case the society unites, 2008 may
become an important phase for the change of the country’s internal
structure. `Only through unification of the society it is possible to
overcome the influence of administrative and financial resources,’ he
declared.
The leader of the National Democratic Union declared that in reality
there are no two poles, i.e. Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan and the
ex-President. Vazgen Manukyan considers that mass media overestimate
the chances of the former President, who will hardly manage to proceed
to the second round.
Mr. Manukyan underlined that in case there is a second round, the
authorities will possibly face great difficulties, since the chances of
the opposition will considerably increase. Vazgen Manukyan declared
that he hopes to go to the second round, since his ideas are consistent
with the aspirations of people.
