YEREVAN, DECEMBER 14, NOYAN TAPAN. The Independent Interdepartmental
Commission of issues on conditional preterm release when serving the
sentence and substituting the non-served part of the sentence by a
milder measure of punishment examined and dismissed the application on
conditional preterm release of Arman Babajanian, the editor-in-chief of
the Zhamanak Yerevan newpaper, on December 14. It should be mentioned
that this is the second application concerning Arman Babajanian, which
has been dismissed by the Commission. It should also be mentioned
that by the verdict of the Court of First Instance and the Court of
Appeal Arman Babajanian was found guilty of having avoided military
service and was sentenced to a 3.5-year imprisonment. He has already
served half of the determined punishment.
