YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, NOYAN TAPAN. Jeffrey Kitting, the newly appointed
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to Armenia
(residence Sofia), handed his credentials to RA President Robert
Kocharian on December 4.

During the conversation following the ceremony, R. Kocharian evaluated
as impressive the way passed by Ireland and the progress recorded by
it in the past years. Mentioning that Armenia has also adopted the
same way of development, he considered as interesting the experience
accumulated by Ireland, attaching a special importance to deeper
cooperation in the issue of working out expert programs.

The parties held the same opinion that the modest indices of
cooperation in the economic sphere do not correspond to the
current potential. They attached importance to more complete use of
possibilities and improval of legal-contractual field.

As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA President’s Press Office, the
interlocutors also touched upon the possibilities of the two countries’
cooperation within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
