VALUES OF FOOD AND CONSUMER BASKETS GROW IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, NOYAN TAPAN. In the third quarter of 2007, the
annual value of food basket made 256,528.4 drams (about 7.9 thousand
USD) in Armenia in average current prices – based on the food contents
and composition developed by the RA ministry of health – as compared
with 247,439.8 drams in the same period of 2006. According to the RA
National Statistical Service, the value of the minimum food basket
made 21,377.4 drams a month – against 20,620 drams in the third
quarter of last year.

In the third quarter of 2007, the value of the minimum consumer
basket made 397,619 drams a year in average current prices – against
383,531.7 drams in the same period of last year. The value of the
minimum consumer basket made 33,134.9 drams a month – against 31,961
drams in the third quarter of 2006.

The monthly value of the food basket calculated by the methodology
of the World Bank made 15,767 drams per capita in average current
prices in the third quarter of 2007 – against 14,723 drams in the
same period of last year, the same indices per an adult – 17,558
drams against 16,395.3 drams.

The monthly value of the minimum consumer basket calculated by the
same methodology made 24,438.9 drams per capita in average current
prices in the third quarter of 2007 – against 22,820.7 drams in the
same period of last year, the same indices per an adult made 27,214.8
drams against 25,412.7 drams.
