Election of the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan
president of Armenia will create a great resource for negotiations
for settlement of Karabakh conflict, Leader of the opposition party
Republic Aram Sargsyan says in an interview with ArmInfo.

He says neither the international community nor President of
Azerbaijan see difference between Robert Kocharyan and his successor
Serzh Sargsyan. Thus, the incumbent president’s replacement by his
successor will just lead the negotiations to a dead end. When Levon
Ter-Petrosyan resigned in 1998, he left the necessary resource for
continuation of negotiations. The new authorities started negotiating
from their own stand, which was supported by a definite part of the
population. As a result, we have arrived at such a deadlock. Now,
Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s victory in the election can bring a new resource
to the negotiations, he says.

A. Sargsyan believes that the first president of Armenia has always
been sincere to the OSCE Minsk Group, waged exact foreign and domestic
policy, and has never protracted the fulfillment of agreements unlike
the incumbent authorities that has never expressed exact approaches
to the Karabakh conflict settlement, Republic party leaders says.
