"We continuously hear that we need to do all we can for Diaspora
Armenians to return to the homeland, but definite steps haven’t been
taken," Armen Shabazian, vice-president of the International Armenian
Congress youth organization, said today at a press conference.

In his words, a state policy needs to be developed and enacted to
encourage repatriation. "Today Armenia has several conflicts, each
of which could turn into serious issues in the future," Shabazian
noted. He believes that Armenia’s relations with its neighbors are
quite unstable. "It is important to unite and solve these issues,
starting today. We need to create a government-youth bridge,"
he underlined.

The organization is preparing to discuss issues pertinent in
Armenian-Georgian relations with Armenian youth from Georgia. "The
purpose of our meeting has to include the preparation of programs
and ways to implement them," A. Mkhitaryan pointed out. He says
that his organization is now talking with both Diaspora-Armenian and
international structures, so that cooperation between them becomes
stronger.

Mkhitaryan revealed that they are in the process of establishing an
Armenian-Russian youth union.
