Jewish Magazine Calls for Apology From Anti-Defamation League Leader

(PRLEAP.COM) NEW YORK, NY – Jewcy Media, a leading Internet content,
commerce, and new media company for progressive free-thinkers,
announced today a petition calling for the Anti-Defamation League to
rescind its stance on the Armenian Genocide. Jewcy first criticized
the ADL in a June 10 editorial that one Armenian activist has
described as the beginning of a "backlash" against the organization.
On August 14th, the city council of Watertown, Massachusetts voted to
sever ties with the No Place for Hate Program, which is administered
by the ADL. Armenian-American activists in Watertown plan to lobby
the other 67 Massachusetts towns still participating in NPFH to drop
their connection, as well.

Speaking of House Resolution 106, which would describe events in
Turkey in 1915 as a genocide, Foxman told the Jewish Telegraphic
Agency, "I don’t think congressional action will help reconcile the
issue. The resolution takes a position; it comes to a judgment. The
Turks and Armenians need to revisit their past. The Jewish community
shouldn’t be the arbiter of that history, nor should the U.S.
Congress." In the June 10 editorial, Jewcy’s senior editor Joey
Kurtzman wrote that Foxman’s statement was "a scandal of
unprecedented proportion."

Jewcy’s online petition demands three actions from Foxman if he
should choose not to step down:

1.) He must acknowledge the Armenian Genocide

2.) He must apologize to the Armenian-American community

3.) He must apologize to the Jewish community, for humiliating us
before our fellow-citizens

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
