HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES THE MEMBERS
OF THE MARONITE LEAGUE
The members of the Maronite League, headed by Dr. Joseph Torobey, visited
His Holiness Aram I in the Saint Mary Monastery in Bikfaya on August 10.
The Pontiff and his guests discussed the recent developments on the Lebanese
political scene, particularly in light of the situation created after the
by-elections in the Metn area and their consequences. His Holiness
expressed his viewpoints regarding these developments, considering that
Christian unity is above everything else for establishing stability in
Lebanon.
The members of the Maronite League shared the Catholicos’ viewpoints with
respect to sovereignty in Lebanon and expressed their resentment of the
unpleasant atmosphere created in the aftermath of the Metn elections.
