"Dashnaksutiun is a part of authorities and it is unclear for me that
they announce themselves as alternative to authorities or opposition,"
National Self-Determination Union (AIM) Chairman Paruir Hairikyan
told reporters at Hayeli Club today.

Hairikyan said Dashnaksutiun must be after money.

"Isn’t this a good opportunity to collect money?" AIM chairman asks
rhetorically. "We are alternative… If it were us, it would be
better… Agreement of Seur…. From sea to sea Armenia…" Hairikyan
says sarcastically. Dashnaksutiun could not prevent any serious danger
jeopardizing our nation since coming into stage, he said.

"I do not know any Dashnak who has died saying "death or freedom" at
the moment of threat to our nation but I do know Dashnaks, spearheaded
by Dro, who have signed an agreement of Armenia’s handover to Bolshevik
Empire after which all Armenian officers were murdered and Dro left
abroad safe and sound," AIM chairman said.

Hairikyan quoted the words of first republic’s last Prime Minister
Simon Vratsian as saying: "In 1918, we, the Dashnaks, came to an
understanding that we are a failed party but because there was no
other organization and Armenia was getting independence, we became
the owners of the situation."

Speaking about the problem of "common spelling," Hairikyan said in
1988 he could convince Robert Kocharyan "who does not have good
understanding of the Armenian language" that it is an important
issue but Kocharyan gave him an answer saying Dashnak Levon Lazarian
advised to keep away from that problem, saying it is "a headache."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
